Rulings of the cupping therapy (Hijama) :

- Authentic hadeeth prove that the Messenger salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam used cupping therapy while in Ehram. In a narration reported by Bukhari he had cupping therapy while fasting.

- Hijama is a type of medicine, however, we can not call it a Sunnah. But it may be sought if needed.

- It is permissible to use Hijamah on parts of the body that will not require hair removal such as on the back, feet, or shoulders.

- It is still permissible to use Hijamah on parts of the body where hair removal is necessary such as on the head based on the Messenger’s salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam situation who had it on his head and in another narration in the middle of his head. Yet he didn’t make a ransom neither did he instruct with so. Based on this, it stands as a daleel for using it.

- Therefore one in Ehram may use Hijama if needed.

- A woman just exactly as the man is allowed to seek Hijama while in Ehram. However, only a male Mahram (non marriageable) must perform it.

- All hadeeth that assign certain days or months to perform Hijama are not valid to regulate the operation.
