Rulings about Mina :
- It was called Mina due to the amount of blood spelled there with slaughtering the sacrifices.
- Mina has certain boundaries which must be observed. One who performs Haj must strictly remain within the boundaries.
- The spot of Mina enjoys certain features including that during the days of Haj it expands, and neither craws nor flies live there.
- One who is performing Haj arrives at Mina on the 8th. This timing is Sunnah and not Wajeb (mandartory). During that day, he must follow the guidance of the Prophet Salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam in praying 5 timings that are Zohr, Asr, Maghreb and Esha of the 8th then Farj of the 9th. Noting that he only shortened prayers of 4 Raka`as.
- Days of Tashreeq (11, 12, 13th) must be spent at Mina. They were called so as people divide the meet of sacrifices.
- Spending night at Mina during days of Tashreeq is a Wajeb.
- Due to the increasing number of people, one will be excused if he/she could not find a space except in the roads and pavements. In such case leaving Mina shall be for an emergency.
- Also when the person couldn’t find a place to stay except for a very expensive rate, he/she is not compelled to pay such rates, but only to sit where ever a space is available.
- One who does not spend the 3 nights at Mina must slaughter a sacrifice and give it away in full to the poor in Mecca. He/she must not eat from this ransom.
- Number of scholars saw that if one misses 1 day to give a Sadaqa for one poor person, if missed 2 days to give Sadaqa for two poor people, and if the 3 days are missed to give the ransom.
- In case one finds an empty space but could not find the owner to take a permission, he/she is still allowed to use it. Based on the hadeeth of the Prophet Salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam saying: Mina is available for one who comes first” (reported by Termidhi).
- It is allowed to depart from Mina before the sunset of the 12th.
- However, one must spend the night in case he/she couldn’t leave before sunset in order to stone Shaytan.
- In case one was able to depart before sunset of the 12th, but had to come back after sunset for a necessity, he/she still must not spend the night.
- The rulings apply on both men and women in the same manner as well as children from both genders.
